May 2017 – Beltsville, MD – FYI-For Your Information, Inc., (FYI) a minority-owned, woman-owned leading enterprise IT and management services operation, this year celebrates its 30th anniversary of the company’s founding. The ISO-9001 certified company was founded by President Bernadette Yu as an in-demand computer training company to federal agencies, associations, local municipalities, corporations and unions, some of whom remain its steadfast clients today.

“We have felt privileged and proud to serve so many important institutions based in the nation’s capital and beyond,” said FYI President Yu. “Thirty years bring about many changes to FYI’s offerings and expertise, but, one thing remains unchanged – our deep respect and partnership with our clients. Their missions and mandates help vastly improve our communities, cities and country at large.”

Headquartered in Beltsville, MD, with staff in the District of Columbia, Virginia, New Mexico, and Maryland, FYI has teamed with more than 20 companies including global brands like Dell and Leidos (formerly Lockheed Martin), KBRwyle (formerly Honeywell) and Accenture to name a few, and provided services to over 1,000 diverse domestic and global clients ranging from the U.S. Department of Labor to the National Gallery of Art to the Federal Exchange Commission.

Through the years, FYI has never wavered on the principles it was founded. Anchored by the values of her entrepreneurial immigrant father, Yu held fast to the basics – deliver a quality product, unwavering client service, respectful of deadlines and sensitive to budget – and place a premium on committed, talented staff.

A sometimes rollercoaster economy, sweeping technological changes, and unpredictable client needs  have challenged FYI to take serious stock of its business, be flexible to innovate, but never walk away from its roots and core values.

From early IT training to maintaining complex network systems and from classifying position descriptions to arbitrating union negotiations, FYI continues to help major federal government agencies navigate IT and streamline their management operations for efficiency and effectiveness. In recent years, it has expanded its expertise and offerings to respond nimbly to a growing need in the marketplace to address business processes, human capital management, budget analysis, EEOC and other legal matters.

Noted Yu, “The foundation of our success lies in our people – not only the ones who serve up game changing solutions but our passionate partnership with our clients.” Known industry wide for its obsession with customer client service, FYI is respected by organizations and companies both large and small. Its first client, the U.S. Coast Guard; thirty years later, the Coast Guard continues to place its trust in FYI to provide a full complement of consulting services including desktop support services and staffing and classification.

A few years back, Washingtonian Magazine announced FYI as one of its “Best Places to Work” after a rigorous review of more than 13,000 employee surveys from some of the metropolitan Washington area’s most formidable companies. The honor was testament to the kind of company FYI was and is – 30 full years later.

“1987…2017…FYI pledges its continued commitment to providing good old-fashioned hard work and hands-on, cost effective, best-in-class products and services to Federal and commercial clients,” said Yu. “We are truly grateful to our staff and our clients who have helped make this success possible. And, we are energized for the future!”
